Documentation of UF Unit IT Resources
Include the name of the unit in the documentation title. Identify the network managers, the unit administrator and list their contact information. The Unit ISM is responsible to document their unit's IT resources. The IP address, DNS name, MAC address, location, and short description should listed. The documentation must specify the use of the IT resource, including levels of availability, confidentiality, and reliability required. To determine what level of protection is needed, the value of the assets, both data and hardware, must be determined and also included in the documentation.
A diagram mapping the unit network is required. Location of network devices, servers, and other important IT resources should be included in the diagram.
Types of IT resources for which documentation must be included are:
- computers that are used to store or access student data
- computers that are used to store or access health data
- computers that are used to store or access confidential or sensitive data
- computers used to store authentication and other logs
- data backup servers
- servers - email, web, dns, etc.
- routers, switches, other network devices, and network jacks
- external network connections
- telephony
- video
- servers
- wireless
- power backups
