The Office of Academic Technology (OAT), 392-0371, offers testing and evaluation services, an Instructional Design Center and Faculty Support Center for assistance with course development, coordination of campus Distance Education services and CIRCA account and classroom services.
Instructors can use site-licensed WebCT (Web Course Tools) software to provide a framework for developing WWW delivered teaching and learning resources. A central WebCT server is maintained by OIR/CIRCA. The Faculty Support Center offers faculty training on and support for development of courses on WebCT.
Instructors can apply for a block of student accounts on the CIRCA Unix computer or the NERDC IBM mainframe. Ask the CIRCA account manager in CSE 214 for the Class Computing Access Application.
In addition to class computing accounts, instructors may also reserve a CIRCA computer classroom for regular class computer-use or individual class sessions.
OAT instructional media services include a Media Resources Library, photography and graphics production, print duplication services, AV equipment distribution and multimedia classroom support through a Multimedia Support Program, video production, and a Language Learning Center.
The University Center for Excellence in Teaching offers programs to instructors that focus on effective teaching.
